Ancient Culture Street (Gu Wenhua Jie), is one of the places of interest in Tianjin China. Gu Wenhua Jie is a cultural tourist attraction place on the west bank of the Hai River in Nankai District, Tianjin, China. It is a national 5A scenic area regarded by the China National Tourism Administration.

Tianjin Ancient Culture Street was formally unfolded on New Year's Day in 1986. It conserve and mapping the ancient architectural style of the Qing dynasty, with its Niangniang Palace, the Temple of the Queen of Heaven (Tianhou Palace), honoring the sea-goddess Mazu in its geographical center. Its principal street is divided into two parts, the South Palace Street and North Palace Street, centered by the Mazu Temple, which traces back to AD 1404.

Yuhuang Pavilion (Yuhuang Ge) is the only building that was constructed during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and is the oldest structure in the street.

How To Get To Tianjin Ancient Culture Street

A short minutes walk east of the Confucius temple, or a taxi ride from the railway station. The street is situated in the northeastern quarter of Tianjin, beside the Hai River.

Take bus no. 1, 605, 609, 610, 619, 632, 633, 641, 646, 670, 671, 804, 849, 904, 908, 954 or sightseeing bus no. 2 and get off at Dongbeijiao Station.

Take bus no. 4, 12, 333, 461, 600, 658, 659, 675, 681, 856, 861, 863, 878, 903, 907 or 913 and get off at Dongmalu Station.

Wangfujing snack street is in hutongs or alley just west of the main Wangfujing street. It is densely packed with restaurants and street food stalls. The food stalls serves a wide variety of common and exotic street food.

Wangfujing snack street specializes in a variety of strange things, skewered and cooked on a stick. They have everything from starfish to sea-snakes, scorpions, bugs with legs, bugs without legs and almost every kind of insect imaginable, coated in sauce and barbecued for your snacking pleasure. The skewered scorpions, sea horses and star fishes attract tourists or visitors to take pictures. Few people would stop and taste the weird food.

The more common fare such as chuanr (meat kebabs, commonly made of lamb) and desserts, such as tanghulu or candied fruits on a stick, are among the most popular.

The Beijing Wangfujing street should be regarded more as a tourist attraction as Wangfujing is not the place to make a bargain for best deal. The prices are relatively higher comparing to other area in the city, but on the other hand the quality is generally good.
